The Top 10 most listened-to EDM tracks of 2016
Another year comes to an end, and its now time to stop for a moment and weigh up the best EDM tracks that triumphed all over the world in 2016.
To compile this list, we have taken each track’s total number of listens on Spotify into account; the service is becoming more and more established as the key player on the music scene, and is therefore one of the most reliable in terms of the charts and other statistics.
Let’s take a look at the most listened-to songs of 2016!
10 – In 10th place is “Rockabye” by Clean Bandit with 2.5 million plays. A new hit for Clean Bandit after “Rather Be.”
9 – In 9th place is the EDM/ Pop duo whose name is on everyone’s lips: The Chainsmokers! Featuring Phoebe Ryan’s vocals, “All We Know” puts them on the list. The track drew in 224 million plays: impressive figures considering that the track was released at the end of September.
8 – 8th place for the 20 year old Martin Garrix who, other than becoming world number 1 in DJMag’s TOP100 and having given life to his own label STMPD, also released “In the Name of Love” with Bebe Rexha, totalling 393 million plays.
7 – In 7th place, with around 484 million listens, is “Starboy,” the collaboration between the Weeknd and the French duo Daft Punk.
6 – Sixth place for “Let Me Love You” by the producer DJ Snake. With 578 million plays, it’s the most popular on his album ‘Encore’.
5 – “This is What You Came For” by DJ/Producer Calvin Harris in collaboration with Rihanna enters in the top 5. 609 million plays for Harris’s hit.
4 – In fourth place, with 629 million plays, is “Cold Water,” the umpteenth hit by Major Lazer, who decided to collaborate with the Danish singer MØ for the second time after the success of “Lean On.” They are accompanied by Justin Bieber on this piece.
3 – In third position are The Chainsmokers with “Don’t Let Me Down,” featuring American singer Daya.
2 – Taking second place on the list of the 10 most listened-to EDM tracks of 2016 is “I Took a Pill in Ibiza”, with 757 million plays, featuring Mike Posner and remixed by Seeb.
1 – The Chainsmokers again: 2016 has definitely been their year! First place for “Closer”, sung by Halsey, with 760 million plays!
